Internet Explorer Script Error

John,

On PCs on which you've yet to install SP4 for Windows 2000, the
solution should be to apply Critical Update 811630, which is available
from:

http://www.yqcomputer.com/

This will upgrade the runtime components used to display help.

I'm starting to see reports that installing Windows 2000 SP4 breaks
the links in help files. On PCs on which you've installed SP4, you
could try running the following command from a command prompt:

regsvr32 /u <drive>:/winnt/system32/hhctrl.ocx

and then run this command:

regsvr32 <drive>:/winnt/system32/hhctrl.ocx

The first command unregisters the HTML Help ActiveX control, which is
what provides the navigation features in the help files; the second
command re-registers the control. This should fix the broken registry
entries that are responsible for the problem.

Script error on the .htm file

Common script errors messages can be eliminated by Clicking:
Menu: Tools - Internet Options - Advanced tab.
Check "Disable script debugging"
Uncheck "Display a notification about every script error"

Did you install that program?

Start here for some clues.

Internet Explorer Script Error

Post by sonsall » Thu, 04 Sep 2003 21:27:08

Hello everybody,

since c couple of days i get the following message:

An error has occured in the script of this page

Line: XXX

Char: XX

Error: Error at loading DLL (In fact i get it in german: "Fehler beim
Laden einer DLL")

Code: XXX

URL: XXXXXXXXXXXXX

The line and character number, the error code and the URL vary,
depending on the application i'm starting. The most serious thing with
this is that i'm not able to start a virus scan with Norton Antivirus
because he uses the script enginge of IE to show his pages.

I already installed the MS Sricpt Engine and tried several times to
install IE 6 again.

Does anybody have any idea how to solve this ?

Regards,

Juergen

You might want to re-install your scripting engine:

This problem is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 822989
( http://www.yqcomputer.com/ ). Unless you've installed
Service Pack 4 for Windows 2000, the solution should be to apply
Critical Update 811630, which is available from:

http://www.yqcomputer.com/

I'm starting to see reports that installing Windows 2000 SP4 *causes*
this problem. If you're a Windows 2000 user and have installed SP4,
the solution is to first to run this command from a command prompt:

regsvr32 /u <drive>:/winnt/system32/hhctrl.ocx

and then run this command:

regsvr32 <drive>:/winnt/system32/hhctrl.ocx

The first command unregisters the HTML Help ActiveX control, which is
what provides the navigation features in the help files; the second
command re-registers the control. This should fix the broken registry
entries that are responsible for the problem.

Microsoft's Scripting download
Get the latest. Two download versions are available for Windows Script 5.6.
The first version requires Windows 2000; the second version requires
Microsoft Windows 98, Millenium Edition (Me), or NT 4.0. Please choose the
download appropriate for your operating system.

Internet Explorer Script Error

Post by Namid » Thu, 02 Oct 2003 12:58:01

Hi, I have just installed Windows XP professional onto my
computer and after downloading a bunch of things to get
started my Internet Explorer keeps popping up this error
message:

Internet Explorer Script Error

An error has occured with the script on this page.
Line: 2
Char: 7
Error: Invalid character
Code: 0
URL: (for ex.) http://www.yqcomputer.com/

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
Yes No

And no matter what I click it just keeps popping up...
after clicking 2 or 3 times on either one... the message
goes away and surfing resumes until I hit another site
that again the same message pops up with a different URL.
I have tried disabling script debugging and displaying
notification of script errors to no avail. I have
installed the most recent scripting engine from microsoft
and that doesn't work. I have downloaded various
different programs to check for any viruses, trojans,
worms etc etc etc. I have searched for the solution to
this problem everywhere and have tried every known
solution that I could find, but still the problem
persists. I am using IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633.

HELP!

Internet Explorer Script Error

Post by Esther Leu » Thu, 02 Oct 2003 16:12:57

Hi, I have recently installed Windows Xp Professional onto my computer and
after a series of downloads to get started my Internet Explorer started
popping up the following error message:

Internet Explorer Script Error

! An error has occured in the script on this page
Line: 2
Char: 7
Error: Invalid character
Code: 0
URL: (the url I happened to be in...) http://www.yqcomputer.com/

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
Yes No

Regardless which button I would press the message would continue to reappear
at least 2 more times whereupon it would then dissapear and I would be able
to resume surfing as usual. I have tried to disabled both script debugging
and notification of script errors on my explorer however the problem still
persists. I have downloaded a series of programs to check for worms,
trojans, viruses etc. to no avail and I have also updated the latest
scripting device from microsoft, however the problem is still here. I have
searched the internet for fixes to this problem and I am at a loss. I am
currently using IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 which came with my xp.
HELP PLEASE!!!
