Removing Mozilla Firefox browser

I downloaded Firefox during a temporary problem with reloading my regular
browser. (Forum members JanIl and PA Bear helped me find my regular browser.
Thanks, JanIl and PA Bear!) Firefox doesn't offer a valid uninstall option
and when I manually deleted it, it removed most of my listing under All
Programs! I restored from the recycle bin. How do I get rid of Firefox?

You remove Firefox just like you remove any Windows program. Settings,
Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, etc.

Uninstall using Add Remove Programs in Control Panel. It works fine.

Actually, Firefox does offer a valid uninstall option. On my computer it is
listed in the "Install/Uninstall" list of the "Add/Remove Programs" control
in the Control Panel:

Mozilla Firefox (1.0.5)

Something, or somebody, must have hashed things on that computer.

Hi VerLynn,
I have seen some cases where upgrading FF from any previous version does not
delete the previous one. So, in that case you have to uninstall the newer
version, then uninstall the previous. Well, if Firefox is not present in the
Add/Remove program list try to find the file "UninstallFirefox.exe" in
"<driveletter>:\Windows" folder.

Not exactly. Old versions of FF uninstalled older versions, but did not
remove older
versions from the list of installed programs: this problem, however, was
fixed several
versions ago.

The reinstall uninstalled perfectly...from Add/Remove in Control Panel,
exactly where it was supposed to be, but the previous version appears to be
wandering willy-nilly through my computer! The only place I can find it is
in Search. Further suggestions warmly received here. Meanwhile, if I
stumble over a solution, I'll post it. Thanks for the assistance, everyone!

Actually I found someone asking that FF 1.0.2 was still in the Add/Remove
programs while 1.0.5 was installed, though the newer was working correctly.
The person uninstalled 1.0.5 then tried to remove 1.0.2 from Add/Remove
programs list, and then it was deleted. Quite similar case happened to me
after upgrading Java runtime environment from update 1 to update 2, the
update 1 was also in the installed programs list but in that case I was able
to delete the previous entry without any loss. This case is known for Windows
98 and and if anyone try to delete any program manually without using
'Add/Remove programs' and in XP there raises some problem with missing
registry.
Well, the good thing is now at least there is no problem to anyone.

Re Firefox, if 1.0.5 was installed in a different directory than 1.0.2,
then installing 1.0.5 would not automatically uninstall 1.0.2.

Re Sun's Java, I have found that installing a new version does not
uninstall older versions (possibly because some Java apps don't work
with the latest version of Java), so you have to uninstall the older
versions yourself.
