2000 Server with XP Client Synchronisation Problem

Post by Umlja3kgU2 » Thu, 23 Jun 2005 20:25:03

Hi,

For 2 years we have had no problems with 2000 Professional clients
whatsoever. We have recently installed the XP ADM templates because we want
to upgrade to XP next month.

On the XP machines when a user logs off it takes forever to synchronise and
a dialog box comes up showing that every file on user's home folder is being
synchronised. This does not happen on Windows 2000 machines and we have tried
changing the options in...

Group Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network >
Offline Files

...but to no avail.

We just want synchronisation to kick in when the server goes down (balloon
message saying working offline) and a quick logoff (doesn't take 5-10minutes
to synchronise)

Thank you in advance for your help,

Ricky Simons

It's not possible activate the offline folders only when the the server goes
down. How the options in the offline folders properties? Usually only the
first syncronization takes a long time to finish, the other ones are
incremental.

It always takes ages to log off, as syncronization goes through every file.
With the 2000 machines they dont take as long to log off only 2 secs, but for
some reason XP has chnaged something.

Any ideas?

Thanks
