LaCie drive (L:) giving backup error not a valide drive you do not have access

I have a Windows 2003 Server system that is fully patched with a LaCie
1.0 gigabyte Firewire drive attached as L: and I'm getting an error
with backup.

I am trying to backup the C: drive (IDE) and a number of folders on the
L: drive to a folder on the L: drive. The C: drive gets backed up OK,
but I get an error with the L: drive, when it first starts to backup
files from the L: drive. There error says "L: is not a valid drive or
you do not have access).

I don't understand what is going on. The C: drive backs up
successfully to the L: drive folder, but nothing from the L: drive
seems to be getting backed up.
Thanks!
