Incoming mail stuck in SMTP "Messages Pending Submission" queu

Post by Merv Porte » Fri, 03 Sep 2004 06:06:59

I have a client with thesame configuration who gets the messages stuck in
"pending" queue from time to time. I found a ost that claimed that killing
the "inetinfo.exe" allowed the messages to start flowing again. Seemed
pretty radical but it appeared to work. Have only done this once and don't
know if any collateral damage is/can be done by ending inetinfo.exe so
abruptly.

I haven't had the opporunity to try the following procedure yet...

Hi,

Just to let you know, I have the exact problem with one of my client's as
well.

The client is running SBS 2003 and has Trend Scan Mail installed.

Does anyone know what is causing this and more importantly how to you fix
it. While flushing the q works, i need a more permanent solution.

Thanks

Louis

I have the same problem with "stuck email" and have been using the same
solution of ending the inetinfo process. There seems to be no rhyme nor
reason as to what causes the problem and occasionally I have to end the
inetinfo process three or four times before the queue is flushed. I, too, am
running Trend Micro CSM

OK - I have been seriously pestering people.

It seems that Trend now have a fix. There is a patch - SMEX621B1122_EN that
is available from Trend. This is a new version of SmexQMCmd.exe (Build 1122).
The release notes for this HotFix do not mention the SMTP queues *** , but
when I rang Trend Tech support and explained the SMTP "stuck queue" symptoms,
the engineer seemed to be qiute familiar with the problem & assured me that
this was the fix released from product development.

Interestingly, this HotFix does not appear on the Tend Knowledge Base - you
will have to phone & ask for it to be emailed.

After applying this HotFix things seem stable on all servers (over a week
now - however, time will tell!!).
