Problems with Outlook Web Access (and sometimes Outlook)

Users cannot send external mail through Outlook Web Access, and if they try
to route (when working in the office) Outlook mail through the Exchange
Server. In their office they can send just fine through their POP mail
accounts, but if they try to send through the Exchange Server, or if they're
on the road and use Outlook Web Access, they get a message of:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: [Subject Title]
Sent: [Date] [Time]

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

[Recipient] on [Date] [Time]
There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server.
Please contact your system administrator.
<[domainname] #5.5.0 smtp;550 not local host [recipient's domain], not a
gateway>

Any simple solutions?

OWA uses https.. could be that the ports for standard mail are opened on
your router but no the ones for SSL OWA possibly?

Try openin the secure mail ports on your firewall/router. Im not sure what
the ports are off the top of my head and its only a thought but worth a try.

POP3 connection
