uninstall Excel add-ins for all terminal server users

Post by VGl0b2ZrMD » Wed, 20 Jun 2007 23:47:02

I need to remove a specific Excel add-ins for all users of my terminal
server. When I log on the server as administrator, put the session in install
mode, unselect the Add-ins in Excel and then uninstall the add-ins from the
add/remove menu. The uninstallation works fine but when a user start excel
using a terminal session, Excel pops up with an error message regarding the
missing add-ins and macros.

How can I clean such info for all users?

Thanks in advance.

Try to find out what exactly isn't removed whether it's files or
registry (sysinternals tools can fill in the gaps here) and then run a
login script that removes those entries. Most likely it's simply some
registry entries.

uninstall Excel add-ins for all terminal server users

I used already the sysinternals tools to check registry and file access. The
problem is that there is no registry keys for the specific excel add-ins in
the users profile or default neither in the classes.

Is there any special way to remove add-ins on a terminal server ?

Thanks for your reply.

Excel has functionality to detect missing standard add-ins, install them on
the fly. Is that what is going on here? If so, you can turn that off using
Office installation wizard.

it is a non standard add-ins. The additional menu (installed by the add-ins)
is still shown but when I click on it, excel can't find the appropriate files
and makes errors.

I can't find registry or file using regmon and filemon that are used for
showing this additional menu in excel!

wonder if this has to do with Excel & the add-in running on a server, or
within the TS environment...

How does uninstalling the add-in work when you are using Excel locally? When
you uninstall the addin on an XP pro machine, log-ff, & log back in as a
different user and launch Excel, do you see the same error?
