Hello,

we have a custom hardware platform based upon the SC520 processor, basically
an expanded x486. Over the next year or so we want to begin the design of a
new platform for our next generation of products. If we could find a faster
CPU with an SSI interface and a couple of 16/32 bit timers available that
would be ideal. Anyone got some suggestions please?

I have used for last couple years ARM based processor such as StrongARM,
Xscale(PXA25X and PXA27X), and SC2410 and SC2440.
I would recommend ARM based processor such as Xscale Intel, SC24XX from
Samsung.
You may have more than 600 MHz with Intel Xscale and 500MHz from Samsung.
Per SSI interface, Xscale has 3 SSI port and SC2410 has 2 SSI port.
