USB data invalid

USB data invalid

Post by John » Sat, 27 Dec 2003 22:45:30

When I plug a device in the USB port (digital camera or
usb flash memory) , the computer (I am using Windows XP)
recognizes the new hardware, but when it tries to load
the USB drivers, I get an error message saying the USB
driver data is invalid. What should I do?

1. "data is invalid" when attempting to install any USB devices...

2. Mounting USB stick gives "Invalid argument" (was USB pen/mp3player fails to mount (BBB reset failed))

In article <cbjvp6$30dq$ XXXX@XXXXX.COM >,

Apparently this thing also wants DA_Q_NO_PREVENT. But now I'm
getting somewhere. The error messages have stopped. I can
get data from the stick with
dd if=/dev/da0 of=/dev/null

If I try to mount the stick, I get
# mount -t msdos /dev/da0s1c /camera
msdos: /dev/da0s1c: Invalid argument

I thought this meant I had to format the stick, but after
newfs_msdos /dev/da0
I still get the same error.

Am I mounting the wrong thing? Or what am I doing wrong here?

# fdisk da0
