Automatic restart

My computer automatically restarts after using two programs. It restarts
when I am on the net using ophoto or webshots etc.... and the other time it
restarts is when I am using a file sharing program. At no other time does it
restart. I am on the net all the time and never have any problems other than
those.

Do you overclock your processor? If so, try bringing the speed down. Maybe
bad memory? Are you sure it's just with these certain programs? If so,
perhaps a software conflict somewhere? I'm not sure though...

I did at one point in time, but I changed the bios back to standard. I
checked again just now and it is not overclocked. I built my own computer
and have read that it might be an overheating issue, but it is too specific
for that. It happens alot if I am downloading material....It is very strange
to me.

Thanks though!

I usually leave my PC on 24/7, but I've seen a few casaes where it
automatically restarts. In other words, next time I come to the PC, I'm at
the user selection screen although I didn't do anything explicitly to trigger
a restart. It's kind of annoying. When would this occur?

Thanks

,
I got my office PC that's on 24/7 so it can remotely accessed.

It seems that when Windows automatically updates, often it requires a
reboot, and does so automatically. Seems this 24/7 PC just rebooted itself
the other night.

I was online yesterday and my computer just shut off and now everytime I
attempt to turn it back on it loads to my home screen but then restarts
itself over and over again. Even if safe mode. Any suggestions how to fix it?

Usually thats caused by a hardware malfunction, causeing the pc into a
"open loop",recheck all hardware installed and/or disconnect one at a time
to eliminate the cause.

- What changes happened since the machine used to boot normally?
- What happens when you boot into Safe Mode?

Hello,

Select 'Start Windows Normally' when the menu appears and *quickly* hit F8.

If you got the timing right, you should see another menu. If there is only
one option in that menu, hit F8 again.

In this menu select 'disable automatic restart on system failure', Enter,
Enter and you should be able to view the full blue screen error. Post back
the message here and we will be able to help you better
