Accessing files on a removed Hard Disk

Post by U2hhaCBvZi » Sun, 24 Oct 2004 07:23:01

Dear all,
My laptop (Windows XP Profesiona) broke down this afternoon and it is being
collected by the vendor to be fixed.
I removed the Hard Disk and used a USB Caddie to access the files on myother
computer (Windows XP Home Edition).
I see all the files except the personal files including emails.

Can you explain why and how I can get access to my files without having to
wait for weeks for the computer to be fixed and returned.

Regards,
Shah.

Removing the HDD from your laptop will render any warranty null and void.

I hope the computer in question isn't under warranty. If so, it's not
anymore. Removing parts of it almost certainly voids the warranty.

Prepare your wallett for a pretty hefty bill.

It's an ownership issue. In help and support type ownership or see this

Shah of BSTS < XXXX@XXXXX.COM > did some thinking and
came up with these words:

Do you have Explorer to see Hidden or System files? If not, enable it and
see if they show up. If it is enabled, possibly it is due to ownership -
you will have to take ownership of the folders.

came up with these words:

Did any of the suggested help do anything to fix your situation? If not,
post back with what you tried and what failed so someone may be able to help
with your situation.
