Lest We Forget

I hope that all of you will take a second or two out of your busy
day to pay your respect to those who made the supreme sacrifice
to give you the freedom you are enjoying this Veteran's day.

Um, off topic and completely ignoring the fact that this is an international
news group. Please post your feelings about veterans on the appropriate news
group.

Actually, since it is based on Armistice Day from WWI, which is an International Holiday, it
is only Off Topic but....

Where would we be w/o those brave souls that sacrificed their lives for their respective
countries in the name of freedom, tolerance and the social good.

I salute all veterans of all nation's but in particular the men and women veterans of the
USA !
May G-d bless you all.

Dave

Not to mention where the 100s of thousands of dead Iraqi's are that Bush the
Terrorist has killed with his high tech WMDs.

Sorry, but "god" doesn't exist, even if Bush thinks he can talk to him.

You are no different than anyone else hiding behind a "mask" Mr. Alias.
I can only hope you don't live in the US. You don't know what it takes
to achieve freedom.

Ahh I get it! Freedom of speech only applies to those with a narrow-minded
worldview.

We cannot truely achieve freedom unless we have Bush out
of the presidency!

nations and of all nationalities. even if it is offtopic.

to do with the actual holiday nothing. I am sorry if in
other places your only educated to think we have veterans
day because of Bush..This was a holiday long before
Bush..and it is has to do with the people.

..there may be a tiny bit of truth to what you say....

My Grandfather was a Royal Marine who served on board HMS Dorsetshire during
WW2, (the UK destroyer that put the final torpedoe into the German
battleship Bismarck), ..later, HMS Dorestshire was sunk in the Indian Ocean
by Japanese Kamikaze pilots - Gramf was with other survivors swimming in oil
to avoid sharks for 36 hours before they were rescued.

Now, WW2 was obviously a war that had to be fought with all vigour, because
of that *** little man called Hitler.

I consider that the recent IRAQ war is a mistake inasmuch that Westerners
seemed to think that the bulk of the Iraqi population needed rescuing from a
tyrant, and would appreciate that rescue, when in fact they're a load of
inhuman and mentally twisted religous fanatics, that literally haven't got
the sense to understand that they've been rescued - and that if they'd stop
chopping peoples heads off, strapping bombs to themselves and killing
themselves and many around them, blowing up everything in sight, and behave
themselves for a while all would be fine !

It seems to me that the idigenous population in Iraq didn't deserve to be
liberated - I mean - look at how they've behaved ever since! It would be
best to pull out all Western forces and nuke the bastards.

Here in the UK it's called Armistace Day because naturally enough this was
the day when the armistace was signed ending 4 *** y years in Europe. Ever
since, on the 11th minute of the 11th day of the 11th month people stand
silent to remember the tragic loss of life.

Not the reason for it, just the waste. Not whether the loss was justified,
just the sadness of it. And the loss is equally sad whether the life lost
was English, American, German or even in todays world, Iraqi.

My calendar states that Veterans day is Remembrance Day in Canada and the
UK.
