installing windows live one care issues I need help!

I want to try the 90 day trial version of Windows Live OneCare. I tried to
install it but it wants to run a scan for antivirus spyware programs. It
says to remove all other programs. i did and ran scan. Scan came up that i
had "liveupdate blah blah blah file and to go to add remove software to
remove it. I went to add remove and there was nothing on there for live
update or symantec. Went into registry and zapped all i could find. Ran
scan and still there. contacted symantec in live chat support (never do this
they are rude, under educated and probably smell funny.) the first person
said it would be no problem and gave me a link to the site to download the
symantec software remover. I copied and pasted the link and it took me to
the chat page i was just in. Round Two after signing in and waiting behindd
fif *** other people the second person was rude and ignored my questions and
concerns but gave me the link i had him stay with me while i downloaded the
three files and ran them. he fought it but stayed with me i downloaded them
and asked if i should start running them, no answer. I ran them anyways and
then it wanted me to restart (which would drop the conversation i had with
him) he said to just reset. I asked him to call me so that i didnt have to
wait in line again to talk to another person that doesnt know my situation.
He said "this is a chat" after i snapped and told him about it I asked for
his supervisors contact info. He just kept repeating to reset it will fix
it. The third time was another operator after 17 people ahead of me. Little
to no new help but she was kind and gave me the supervisors contact info.
Bottom line its still there.
My computer came with norton internet security 2005 w/spyware blah blah as
a bunch of bundled software, which is on a partitioned d: drive that is
inaccesable and used only for system restore.
How do I get that bundled software off? Will taking it off do irreversable
damage to my system restore? And if anybody knows i was wondering if symantec
help staff still had to have someone hold their hand when they go potty?
any help will be appreciated. Sorry this is so long I am still venting.
