Changing a cached password off the network

Changing a cached password off the network

I am in charge of managing the remote locations for my organization.
Most sites use hardware VPN to log onto our domain. One consists of
just a single user. This user uses software VPN to connect to our
main network after he has logged onto his desktop using a cached
password. Recently because of a security setting he was forced to
change his password. He has changed it but is unable to log onto his
desktop off the network with his new password. He has to use the old
one. This causes him problems with email, mapped drives, and various
other network permissions. Is there any way for him to sync his
cached password on his desktop with his new domain password without
logging onto the network?

Thanks in advance for any help on this issue.
