Seeing Shared folders on WIndows XP and Windows NT

Seeing Shared folders on WIndows XP and Windows NT

Post by Dan Gagn » Wed, 02 Jun 2004 03:40:44

I am unable to connect to or see any shared folders
between these two systems.

Both systems belong to the workgroup called MSHOME

SKYWALKER - Windows XP Professional
R2D2 - Windows NT 4.0 Server

On R2D2, in the window showing the list of servers it
does list SKYWALKER. So the WIndows NT system does see
the system. BUt cannot connect to it.

On the SKYWALKER system, under MSHOME, Nothing is listed,
it is empty.

I would like to share files and folders bew *** both
these systems.

Thank you

1. Sharing a folder between a windows 2000 computer and a windows XP

2. Windows XP Can't See Windows 98 Shared Folders

I have a Belkin Wireless router with one PC running Windows XP Home
and the remote running Windows 98 SE. The XP is physically plugged in
the router and the 98 has a wireless card.

The Windows 98 can see shared folders on XP and read and copy to them.
I have shared folders on the 98, disabled the firewall and antivirus
(per Belkins tech support suggestion) Still unable to view folders
and files on the 98 from the Windows XP.

Both machines can access the internet but the XP does not see the
other PC. Both can ping each other.

I have DHCP enabled on the router.

I want to be able to share files, folders and printers from both
machines, not one way like it is now.

Any help will be appreciated.
