IP Address in ipconfig differs from IP Address on IP address check

Hi Dano,

Yes, this is normal. When you go to a site like the one you mentioned, it
gives you your "external" ip address. When you type in "ipconfig" at the
command prompt, it gives you your "internal" ip address.

All websites have external ip addresses as well. Try this: At the command
prompt type in ping www.msn.com

It will give you 207.68.173.74. If you type this number into your address
bar in Firefox or IE it would be the same as typing in www.msn.com.

1. IP ip iP Ip IP ip iP Ip IP ip iP Ip IP ip iP Ip 0021275831620

2. Forcing SMTP traffic over NLB IP Address versus local IP address?

I have a dilema. I have 2 Exchange 2007 servers using the Hub
Transport role. Both servers are configured to use NLB. We have a
remote site setup to connect to this NLB IP address for inbound SMTP
communications but when the actual Exchange 2007 server talks back to
the remote site, it sends the outbound SMTP traffic over it's physical
IP address rather than the NLB IP address. Is there a way in Exchange
to force all SMTP traffic over a particular interface or possibly
create a static route to use the NLB address for outbound versus the
local IP of the server?

Thanks,
Brian
