Runtime Error

Runtime Error

Post by Dere » Thu, 31 Jul 2003 03:55:45

When I open a folder containing .jpg images, I get a
Runtime Error in C:\Windows\explorer.exe. I can move the
error message window and access the files, but the
preview is unavailable. Once I click OK on the error
message, Windows refreshes and closes the folder I was
trying to open.

Anyone know how to fix this problem.

Do you happen to have Adobe PhotoShop or
Elements installed?

If you do...right click on a .jpg file and choose
Properties. Click the Photoshop Image tab
and uncheck the "Generate Thumbnails" button,
then click OK.

===========================================
Try the following:

On your IE screen...go to...
Tools / Internet Options / Advanced tab...
place a check in the box...
"Disable Script Debugging" / Apply / OK.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times and still
come up with the same error. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Runtime error an be due to a variety of things.
The first thing I would try to do is going to the Internet site of your
video display card manufacturer and download and install the latest driver
compatible with XP.

When trying to print a jpeg file in Photoshop (having
just successfully done so) I received message: 'Disk
error 1 occured while reading or writing scratch disk.
Sorry but this error is unrecoverable' (which I think is
related to Photoshop) followed by 'Microsoft Visual C++
Runtime Error! program C:\...Photoshp.exe. R6025 - pure
virtual function call

I have no idea really what is going on, I have not tried
printing a different file yet. Photoshop will open back
up again. Recently, it has shut down with no warning
whilst saving a file.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Your post has been sitting there for a while with no answer.
Not that easy to say what is happening or propose a solution. Here are some
ideas.
First, run your antivirus software, to make sure your photo files are not
infected.
A run time error is very often associated with not enough RAM memory. You
are on XP. To run XP you need at least 256 MB of RAM. If you updated to XP
with an older computer with 128 MB of RAM or less, this may be the problem
and you will need to add more RAM memory. To run XP and photo files you
should have 512 MB of RAM
Also, a run time error is very often associated with an old graphic (video)
card driver in need of updating. You need to go to the Internet site of the
video card manufacturer and download and install the latest driver.
