I know of no way to control what's displayed in the top part
of the fonts drop down. I think it's controlled by a Registry
key (the DATA key?), so you could "empty" it by deleting that
key. Word would regenerate it with its installation defaults
(which means there are other settings you'd lose).
It looks like applying a font using a macro (VBA) isn't added
to the list. If you find the problem truly annoying, you
could conceivably set up a macro (or a few macros) for
applying the "single instance" fonts. Roughly
Selection.Font.Name = "Antique Olive"
Or (even better from a stricly Word sense) create character
styles for the fonts and use these instead of direct
