markers at corners of page in page layout view

Hi -

I just started using Word 2002, and I like to use it in
page layout view.

for some reason, at each corner of the page, there is a
little right angle marking where the margins are (in the
top left corner, one leg of the angle marks the top
margin, and the other leg marks the left margin).

I hate this kind of clutter, but I can't figure out how to
get rid of it. i can't even figure out what these "margin
markers" are really called.

anybody know?

thanks
