Installation Word 2007 cab

Installation Word 2007 cab

Post by Sm9hbm5lIE » Mon, 09 Mar 2009 20:34:05

I have a full version of Word 2003 on my computer. This weekend I tried to
install Word 2007 upgrade, which failed because of a missing
file. I have tried uninstalling Word 2003 and reinstalling and now Word 2003
wants the setup disk, which I have, but it's looking for a different cab
file. I have purchased a registry cleaner software and run that, but it
doesn't help. These cab file numbers don't appear to be something that exist
on the installation CDs, so I assume something else is going on here. I
believe both CDs were purchased from Staples, so I assume they're legit
copies. Can anyone explain this or have any suggestions? Thanks in advance
for any help.

Hi Joanne

What operating system are you running Word on

XP, Windows 2000, or Vista

Is your Word 2003 working or is it asking the same question?

It's Windows XP, Service Pack 2. And yes, Word 2003 is asking for that cab
file now. I had tried uninstalling Word 2003 and reinstalling, thinking that
it might solve the problem. I get a "Preparing to Install" message now when
I try to run Word 2003. It does carry on and open Word 2003, but asks me to
do a repair. When I tried that repair feature, it wants the cab file too.

Okay, I'm not sure what did it, but I have Word 2007 running properly now. I
ended up copying all my files from the installation CD to a folder on my
computer. I downloaded something from Microsoft called listool.exe, which
put a lot of cab files on my computer. I took the missing cab file from that
list and added it to the folder that I had created with the installation
files. I installed from the folder and voila! Thanks so much for taking the
time to respond. I very much appreciate it.
