Margins Changing (HP1100)

Post by Bertdo » Wed, 07 Apr 2004 00:46:03

We are running Office XP on a Windows XP client, networked to an HP 1100
LaserJet printer via a JetDirect 170x. Our problem is this: A user will send
a print job to the printer, then edit the document and send it the printer
again. The second time (and each subsequent time), he will get a
"Margins...are outside the printable area..." error, and the document will
not print correctly, although the print preview looks fine. I have reloaded
drivers, tried alterante drivers (HP 1200, HP 1300, etc.), experimented with
different settings in the printer control program, all to no avail. I have
seen similar postings from other people having the same problem, but have
not seen any from anyone claiming to have definitively fixed the problem.

Has anyone overcome this issue? My kingdom for a solution!

Thanks,

BC

I see fixes for "Word Margin", but none for the 1100; in fact, I don't see
any fixes at all for the 1100. Any idea whether or not a non-1100 driver
will work?

Sorry - no idea. Just passing on the link in case it covers your printer. It
is worth noting that PCL printers all use similar language calls, so you
could try a different one. Does the 1100 have a postscript option? That
might be worth a try if so.

I am having the same problem with several associates in
our company, but we are using HP4000s and HP4100
printers. The only difference is that when we get the
margins error, the print preview will show with half the
page missing.

The answer's the same - crappy printer drivers from HP. Try their beta site
for an 'upgrade' - http://www.yqcomputer.com/

At the suggestion of a responder to my problem, I grabbed a "beta" driver
off of HP's website, and that seems to have fixed the problem (knock on
wood), although the description of the driver did not specify that it was
for my problem. I suggest you try this.

Good luck,
