Transferring AutoCorrects During Upgrade

Transferring AutoCorrects During Upgrade

Post by R3JhbW1hci » Sat, 11 Dec 2004 22:25:01

I'm planning on upgrading to Office XP, but I'm hesitant because I have a
*huge* number of AutoCorrects (I type for a living). I know how to transfer
the Custom Dictionary and Normal, but to date, I haven't found a way to
transfer the AutoCorrects.

Does anyone know of a way to do this? Or am I SOL and will have to start
from scratch if I decide to upgrade?

The installer for XP won't overwrite the existing .acl files or normal.dot,
so the AutoCorrects will be intact after the upgrade.

Just in case -- and for routine backup, since you depend on this for a
living -- export the AutoCorrects to a document by using the macro in the
template at http://www.yqcomputer.com/
You can export before the upgrade, and import afterward.

Also see http://www.yqcomputer.com/
other things to back up.

See http://www.yqcomputer.com/
instructions on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations
including AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros,
etc. Note the instructions for AutoCorrect entries are to use the utility
that Jay already gave you a link to.
