Using Encarta 2004 Dictionary as offline default in Word

I use Office 2003, and have Encarta 2004 Reference
Library.

I have always used Bookshelf as my dictionary in Word.
In past editions, when defining a word in Microsoft Word,
the program would use the dictionary in Bookshelf.

Now Office 2003 has the great Research feature, with the
Encarta online stuff. That's fine when I'm online, but
when I'm not, and I try to "look up" a word, I get the
message that the Encarta dictionary could not be searched
because I'm off line. I DO get the Thesaurus entries.

Is there a way to make Word use the Encarta dictionary
from my installed Encarta 2004 Reference Library, when
I'm off line?

Thanks.

Using Encarta 2004 Dictionary as offline default in Word

If the "Define" menu item appeared in the context menu when you
right-clicked on text in a document in Word 2002, then that same menu item
should appear in Word 2003. The "Look up" menu item in Word 2003 activates
the Reference Pane in Word - this menu item is distinct from the "Define"
menu item which activates Encarta Dictionary. You should be able to have
both the "Define" and "Look up" menu items appear - the former will work in
your offline scenario.
