Can't save my MS Word documents in back up on disk

Hello

Recently I'm having a problem saving my word documents on
my zip disk, in my documents, or on a floppy disc.

When I try to 'save as" in one of the above categories,
the following message pops up...
"word cannot complete the save due to a file permission
error"

There is plenty of room on the zip disc, and floppy disc.

Interestingly and possibly related; for a couple of years
every time I try to open any of my word documents...I
first get this small pop up mssg; " Word cannot open this
document"....then I click on 'ok" and the document opens
immediatly! Strange!!

I need to save these documents mentioned in the beginnign
of the message-they are medical documents for my book.
VERY IMPORTANT.
Can you please help?

Hi--

Have you checked the documents' properties? Perhaps all your documents are
read-only, for some reason. If not, here is how to do it. In Windows
Explorer or My Computer, right-click on the file name of the document.
Choose "properties." A little window will open. It should open to the
General tab, but if it doesn't, then choose the General tab. At the
bottom, look to see if the "read-only" box is checked. If it's checked,
then uncheck it.

If this is the problem, then check to see if your normal.dot is also
read-only, and if so, change it.
