selling online and @ place of business using the same server - possible?

I would like to develop a centralised web site which lists and sells
on behalf of several businesses (similar to let's say yahoo). This
functionality could be provided using a centralised web/application
server accessing a centralised database. The question I have is if I
want to provide the businesses with the ability to sell onsite (using
the same 'system'), using physical pos transactions (eftpos) and
perhaps a different pricing schedule (internet customers get the goods
at cheaper rates than people who turn up to the shop) - how would you
implement this? Would you use a localised web/app server acessing the
centralised database? What would be the best implementation to allow
selling over the internet and at the physical place of business?
