grant external read access to files

Post by c.hors » Wed, 25 Jun 2003 21:41:25

while running a Java application that is outputting permanently to
some text file different Windows applications seem to behave
differently when trying to open that file. For instance, MSWord will
only agree to open it readonly, whereas UltraEdit will open it without
any restriction. Other applications in turn will refuse completely to
access that file.
Is it possible to grant (from within java) an overall read access to a
file currently being processed by some java application or is it
entirely up to those external application whether or not to accept a
file opened by any other application?

1. A grant to grant a role without granting the grant to the role

2. Granting access to users in a trusted domain external to the fores

Client has other business units that have seperate trusted domains that do
not reside within the forest.

I am thinking the following should work:
Create universal groups on the external domain for these users
Add the universal group to a domain local group on the forest
Import the domain local group

this should work, but I am getting an error stating:
The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

Does this configuration for the groups sound correct and viable within
Project Server?
