Sony VAIO - Turn up screen brightness when using battery?

Post by bml » Sun, 30 Nov 2003 04:16:56

Hello,

Does anyone know how to turn up the screen brightness when using the
battery? It is very dark and I can't find anything about it in the
"help" system.

Please post any suggestions you have directly to the newgroup.

Thanks!

Often there is a Fn+F* key combo to do this. Or you can set the default
in the power profiles (Win XP) for a brighter screen.

Fn-F5 brings up the brightness screen display, right arrow increases,
left arrow decreases brightness. In order for this to work you have to
have the hotkey application running, whatever it is for your laptop.

If you want to change your profiles so that this change always occurs, use
the sony vaio "power panel." In win2k and xp systems:

1) go to lower right-hand corner of screen
2) *right* click the battery icon "Power Panel"
3) left click edit/create profiles
4) left click "maximum battery life" in left-hand pane
5) double-click "lcd brightness" (I've set mine to 7...it works well)

best o' luck
