Spacebar to to read next message

Is there some setting to have the spacebar open the next message when
reading mail? I seem to remember that working in eudora a long time

You can use the spacebar to scroll down when reading but it does not
then open the next message. The only switch message options are in
miscellaneous to use arrow keys and viewing mail to automatically open
next message but I can't see that it does anything.

You mean in the open message window? That still works for me. I don't
recall there being a setting for that, but if I remember correctly, you
need to be using the internal viewer for it to work. Are you using the MS

"Automatically open next message" controls what happens when you delete or
transfer the message you're reading.

Yes, MS viewer. Spacebar will open a message but not move to the next
when at the end of it.

If I do not use the ms viewer then it does behave as I remember. But
I would like this option for the spacebar to move to the next message
automatically working with the ms viewer. The spacebar is bigger and
more conveniently located than arrow keys.

Viewing without ms viewer can get ugly. Which is true when I forward
or redirect messages as they do not retain ms formatting. Or is there
a setting to help preserve that?

I've been using Alt-downarrow for that keyboard shortcut. I've never
seen it documented (certainly not in the help file under keyboard
shortcuts) but it works. Equivalent to clicking on the down arrow in
the toolbar.

I don't know of anyway to change the MS viewer's behavior where that is

If messages contain html that Eudora doesn't send, then it will get
stripped when you send them in any way, whether it be forwarding or
redirecting. There's no way to avoid that. If that's not the problem,
redirecting tends to retain formatting better than forwarding. Send in a
suggestion to Qualcomm that they change that. There's no good reason that
I can think of that Eudora shouldn't be able to be told to just send the
message the way it is whether the composition window allows those
particular html codes to be used or not.

With Eudora 6.2, in the miscellaneous options, you find three checkboxes
on top of the dialog box to skip to next or previous message :
- unmodified arrow keys
- ctrl arrow keys
- alt arrow keys
