?ALERT?

Post by jaynja » Wed, 19 Oct 2005 18:03:19

Yesterday I received a "phantom message". Only visible evidence was a
blank line in the list of new messages. I could not visibly highlight
it but was able to click on it and delete it when it then appeared in
my 'deleted messages' file! I must confess that I promptly closed
Pegasus down in order to ensure the deletion of the offending item.
Has anyone else experienced this phenomenom or offer any explanation.
I never thought to try "display message headers" just wanted to remove
it in case it contained a virus, trojan, etc.

Yes. Are you running Mercury also? Just curious. Netware or Windows
network?

No explanation for it but yes I see it several times a year.
I believe it has something to do with certain crafted SPAM messages.
Nothing to be alarmed about as they seem to be harmless. I've been
getting them sporadically for over 5 years. Pegasus is pretty solid
when it comes to exploits so I wouldn't worry too much about it. If
you see additional activity related to it then I might be concerned.
