garbage in mail sent with XHTML

Here is a snip from a message sent by Pmail.

****************************************
Content-type: Multipart/Related; boundary="Message-Boundary-9942"

--Message-Boundary-9942
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
" http://www.yqcomputer.com/ ">
<html xmlns=" http://www.yqcomputer.com/ " xml:lang="en" lang="en">
<head>
<title></title>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8"/>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Style-Type" content="text/css"/>
</head>
<body>
<div align="left"><font face="Arial" size="2"><span style="font-
size:10pt">

1) Why does the recipient not see a HTML formatted message?
2) How do I send messages both plain text and HTML - ala Netscape?
3) Why do some messages format OK in HTML but, as in this example, not
all?

I have searched everywhere I can looking for any reference to a problem
like mine without any results. Thanks so much for your kind assistance!

garbage in mail sent with XHTML

This is what it should look like and actually does here (i.e. the text/html
headers are missing from your sample):

Content-type: Multipart/Related; boundary="Message-Boundary-9942"

--Message-Boundary-9942
Content-type: text/html; charset=US-ASCII
Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT
Content-description: Mail message body

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
" http://www.yqcomputer.com/ ">
<html xmlns=" http://www.yqcomputer.com/ " xml:lang="en" lang="en"><head>

See above.

Tools | Options | Sending mail | Generate multipart/alternative versions ....

How did you exactly compose your message - if the headers posted are in fact
what Pegasus Mail creates in your case? And what do you do differently when
composing a message that displays ok?
