I upgraded from fedora core 3 to fedora core 4.

I am running a tight vnc version 1.3dev 7

when I open a terminal and type in it the characters are off.

I did get a prompt about a keyboard and use x or gnome a while ago but
forgot what I pressed.

Oh I am in the US

Got ya.

Lost ya. When you open a terminal where? Are you VNC'ing from one box
running FC4 to another box running <insert>?

Are these in a local terminal or a terminal opened on a remote host via
a VNC session?

What initiated this prompt? VNC? Gnome? <insert>?

Not sure that's relevant unless you are expecting a house call ;)

Inside a vnc session

in a gnome terminal in a vnc session

the X environment

using character set uft8

I think I have it working the trick is to use gnome settings and not x.
