| The Debian project is pleased to announce the fifth update of its
| stable distribution Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 (codename "Etch"). This update
| mainly corrects security problems in the stable release, along with a
| few adjustments to serious problems. Those who frequently install
| updates from security.debian.org won't have to update many packages and
| most updates from security.debian.org are included in this update. New
| CD and DVD images containing updated packages are available at the
| regular locations.


Board Support Package Supports Linux

| Targeting the AMD Geode LX-based Cougar and Python SBCs, VersaLogic
| DEV-CD-L6 quick-start board support package (BSP) uses the Debian Linux 4.0
| (etch/stable) product running Linux kernel 2.6.25-5. The bootable LiveCD
| installs and supports Ethernet, audio, video, USB, and serial communications.
| The package offers 3 stable images for meeting functionality requirements. An
| Advanced User Package (AUP) is available containing kernel sources, a
| customized config file, and driver patches for running other Linux
| distributions.

... Andreas Barth [1]announced that four more
assistants have been added to the release team. There are [2]rumours
to start a port of Debian to the recently freed [3]Minix 3 operating
system. Steve Kemp [4]noted that he has become a full member of the
security team recently which now consists of four full members.
