Don't Ever Tell The Truth About Linux In Comp.Os.Linux.Advocacy

Post by Fred Simmo » Tue, 01 Nov 2005 01:29:19

Telling the truth about Linux, or a Linux distribution in
comp.os.linux.advocacy is ALWAYS THE WRONG THING TO DO!

Just look at sorry treatment poor Karel \"de Jazz\" Jansens received in
this thread:

http://www.yqcomputer.com/
ee69538227780491/9fa9358c20a0ca85?hl=en#9fa9358c20a0ca85

This guy is generally a very PRO LINUX poster, but of course that means
nothing when you are dealing with the mob mentality of the COLA-NUT army.

Notice all the typical tactics used to *combat* this guy.

. Works for me.
. You are an idiot
. Go use something else.
. What problem?
. Easier than using Windows (really??)
. Wrong Distro.
. Crappy Hardware.
. To Stupid to Read.
. Don't know how to google.
. Moron.
. Inability to read what he wrote and asking him the same question 10x.
. Ignoring the fact this is a COMMERCIAL VERSION of Linux and should work.

.....and so forth.

What a poor excuse for advocacy COLA is and truly an embarrassment as well
to the people who really want to make Linux something worth using.

Of course the Linux army has to mobilize and discredit the naysayer
because *we* can't have any negative Linux press to discourage potential
Linux users.

Stop and smell the roses.

Your group, COLA, is already discouraging potential Linux users due mostly
to the mob mentality, childish antics and downright LIES that proliferate
in that group.

Lies?

Yes Lies.

All it takes is 5 minutes in alt.os.linux.suse to see that people
have, had and are always having problems with Nvidia drivers and
Suse.

What works for one card and one person may or may not work for
another card and another person.

FWIW I have 2 systems using Nvidia cards. One is an AGP based MX/400
older card which YaST finds perfectly and downloading the Nvidia
driver from YOU causes it to work perfectly.

The other card is a PCI based MX/4000 card, a newer card, and Yast
pretends to install everything but it never changes the "nv" to
"nvidia" in the xorg.conf file so I have to do it manually.
SaX will never give a selection for "nvidia" driver even AFTER
installing it.

This is *** poor and the fact the same questions about Nvidia get
asked over and over again in the SuSE groups shows that there is a
problem.

You in COLA already know that, but you can't accept for a second
that something might actually be wrong with your beloved Linux so
you go off on a rampage discrediting the poor person who just
happens to vent and bring to light a problem with a version of
Linux.

And this is from a Linux supporter.
Why not go and check Mr. Jansens posting history and you will see he
is pro Linux.

But no, you gang up on him and in the end just show your true
colors.

Too bad for you.

Why not take a look at the original thread and try and debate it instead
of hiding under your couch acting like some scared sheep?

People like you are in effect the worst kind of Linux advocates.

Regardless of whether Fred is or isn't the notorious nymshifter flatfish,
his points are valid.

I know a lot of us here have our patience tested by trolls, but it seems to
have blinded some people to the fact that Karel was voicing legitimate,
specific, criticisms of a major commercial Linux distribution. The root
cause of these problems is a moot point; that they exist, even if in only
one major distro, is something of a problem.

I agree as well. Sometimes the troll comment is made to soon. I say we have
little problems in the SuSE groups that wise, but I have stopped reading
the COLA group for the exact reason described, it's just no fun anymore and
not really usefull.

It seems that the more specific the group, the less abuse you get if you
post a question.

--> Don't get me wrong, I don't like trolls, but a friendly, positive awnser
might do better in the polls then a rant.

Not as much as micro$oft. m$ is claiming placing spyware/trojans onto
all windows system is to "protect others from using your key". The "hotfixes"
put out by m$ create more problems than it claim to fix. There were
even statements that the defaults of win xp "service pack 2" is to
disable all non-m$ applications.

If you know of any major software that is completely free of problems
with all types and combinations of hardware that currently exist or
will exist in the future, please post the particular software.
