64-bit Linux on Sun V2100Z

Has anyone installed Linux on a Sun V2100Z yet, and what distribution
did you use? SUSE 9.3 is distinctly unhappy, though it is some months
old. It needs the safe version to recognise the mouse, sometimes
loses both the mouse AND keyboard, and hangs after the first reboot
during installation with the last message referring to agpgart.

There are a lot of other, lesser problems, but they are probably
generic to SUSE.

Hmm my w2100z didn't suffer the same problems. I have done
SUSE 9.3 both 32-bit and 64-bit as well as 10.0 both 32-bit and
64-bit. I had to use one of those stupid USB Y-splitters to
use with my KVM switch... finally got frustrated because the
newer kernels (ones later than SUSE 9.2) won't allow the wheel
through such an infrastructure. So... I finally pulled the
shielding plate to reveal the fully functional PS2 connectors
(which, btw are enabled by default on the w2100z.. might
as well get the connectors since it sucks up an irq)... and
now I have mouse wheel and everything.

However, currently it is running SUSE 10 32-bit (for other
reasons)... but I plan to switch it back to 64-bit for some
NUMA testing.

I replaced the NV280 card with a 6600GT... but I don't
recall problems with the NV280 card either.

Well.. I'm seeing keyboard/mouse pauses... I'm seeing
total kernel lock ups.... I switched back to 9.3...
everything is fine now. Not sure what is going on.
Posted a message in alt.os.linux.suse... but it's
a 10.0 love fest there. I really think there's
something wrong with the kernel in 10.0.

But... with that said, my errors are not your
errors... so we are seeing two different things.
