opensuse 11.1 failure

I've tried to install OpenSuse 11.1 (32-bit) on 64-bit PC (SATA AHCI).
Installation finished, but it failed to boot. From what I see the system
thinks that /var file system is read only, for some reasons. I am not
able to see the beginning of the messages, because they scrolled off,
and there is no log, since /var is considered read-only.

OpenSuse 10.3. installs without any problem on the same partition.

Another issue is that installer detects 3.25 Gb RAM only, while SUSE
10.3 detects whole 4 GB.

10.3. works fine, but I am curious what might have happened. I suspect
that some parameters are needed for bootloader. I didn't allow
bootloader instalation since I boot from LILO on another partition.
Instead I created LILO entry by hand, but have no idea is there anything
that is needed in append section.

Just a suggestion..... you think anyone else in this newsgroup is going to know if
anything is needed if you don't post the lilo contents to the newsgroup?
