MA521 Crashes kernel on iwpriv wlan0 disable

Post by markalrobe » Thu, 03 Jun 2004 16:39:29

Guess the subject says it all really - i've just tried to install
slackware 9.1 on a Compaq Eve N200 with a Netgear MA521 in it, hoping
to say goodbye to XP :)

I've downloaded the 81080L drivers from Realtek, and compiled them.

When I iwpriv wlan0 enable, the link light starts flashing on the card
(good sign?)

I cannot actually make a connection yet (probably settings - I use wep
etc. so may need to further configure this)

BUT, iwpriv wlan0 disable crashes the machine needing a reboot...

Can anyone help me?
Much appreciated,
Mark.

I have this card which is used under Windows only( I have a CF dell wifi
card that works fine under linux. ) However I thought there were issues
with the realtek drivers. You may wish to look at
http://www.yqcomputer.com/ or http://www.yqcomputer.com/ . I have used
the trial of linuxant($20 to register) to get the 521 working. I believe
they have now got the NDIS wrapper stuff(Open Source) to work. I have
never used the iwpriv stuff. With my CF card All I do is set the IP
address in ifcfg-eth1 and the wireless point using iwconfig. It all works
fine from there.
