Console Screen Saver

Post by kenji_mats » Thu, 20 May 2004 20:41:28

Hello

I want to create console screen saver binary which has an immediate
effect, not like setterm -blank 1, it takes at least one minute.

Does anybody know how it makes?
I also want to hold the usual one, which has an effect 'minute' unit.

TIA
Kenji

Edit the source code, change it to use milleseconds instead
of minutes, save and compile. Maybe change the name to
"mysetterm" and/or strip out the unnecessary things.

Thanks Kevin for your reply.

Actually [setterm -blank 1] is equal to [echo -e "\033[9;1]"
at setterm.c, so I need to figure out referring to some other source.

If you know which source I should refer,
could you let me know pl?

Oh, well then that complicates things. :-/

You might try figuring out terminfo. I've never needed to
mess with it, but I did some looking around, mostly man
pages, and couldn't find a simple way to make modifications
to what is installed.

In the Good Old Days(tm), we could modify /etc/termcap with
vi at least.

I'll check terminfo carefully.
Thanks anyway.
