Problem with radeonfb - unable to set correct resolution

Post by UnaCode » Fri, 19 May 2006 06:22:13

Hi, Compiled radeonfb into my kernel. I set the parameter
video=radeonfb:1280x1024-16@60 in lilo.

For some reason unkown to me, the console resolution is not
1280x1024... any suggestions? There isn't much documentation on
radeonfb, so I don't really know where to start to trouble shoot this
problem! :-/

Help would be greatly appreciated!

here are some of my config files:
$ cat /etc/lilo
....
default="linux-radeon"
...
image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.8.1-10mdkcustom
label="linux-radeon"
root=/dev/hda1
initrd=/boot/initrd-2.6.8.1-10mdkcustom.img
append="devfs=nomount video=radeonfb:1280x1024-16@60 acpi=ht
resume=/dev/hda5 splash=silent hdb=scsi"
read-only
.... EOF

And I can see in dmesg that it is loaded:
$ dmesg
...
radeonfb: Found Intel x86 BIOS ROM Image
radeonfb: Retreived PLL infos from BIOS
radeonfb: Reference=27.00 MHz (RefDiv=60) Memory=166.00 Mhz,
System=166.00 MHz
radeonfb: Monitor 1 type CRT found
radeonfb: Monitor 2 type no found
radeonfb: ATI Radeon QY DDR SGRAM 64 MB
... EOF

Problem solved!

I added panel_yres:1024 which apparently is needed since my monitor
doesn't have plug and play. Thanks to this great How To I found at
