I am helping my mother adjust a minor thing in Word Perfect 6.0b for
DOS. Specifically, she wants to adjust the status bar (at the bottom
of the screen) in Text Mode. She would like it to be a continuous bar
across the bottom of the screen. And she would like to change its color.
The status bar is now in two parts. One part displays
the file name or font as selected; the other part has the line number and
My mother recalls that this used to be one bar at the bottom of the screen;
graphics mode displays the status information that way.
Word Perfect 6.0 provides options to change the status bar so it displays
the file, font, or nothing on the left hand side. It also allows the user
to change the background and foreground color for menu items and the button
bar. However, neither of us can locate in the manual or in the software,
options to change the color of the status bar or have it display continuously.
(Of course, I offered to buy her a new computer, but she really likes
her 486 running Dos bought in 1995.)
