Win95 in WinNT 4.0 domain

Win95 in WinNT 4.0 domain

Hi folks,
I've been banging my head against the wall on this one. Perhaps
someone has a thought or comment on this.

I was handed a Windows 95 computer and asked to put it in our Windows
NT 4.0 domain.
On the W95 computer I right-clicked on Network Neighborhood and
clicked on the Identiification tab.
IN the Workgroup field, I entered the name of the NT 4.0 domain name.
(TACNW)
I clicked OK and rebooted.

Upon start up, I was asked a log on for the TACNW domain. I entered a
username and password and logged on successfully so it seemed. I am
able to now browse the network from the W95 machine.

The problem is, I need to get some data off of the Windows 95 machine.
From any server on the network (all WinNT 4.0 SP 6a) I can SEE the
Windows 95 machine, but I whenever I try to access it by
double-clicking on it I get an error message:

"<WIN95 ComputerName> IS NOT ACCESSIBLE. THE NETWORK PATH WAS NOT
FOUND"

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Cliff

Since you don't state it I have to ask: Is anything shared on the 95
machine?
What protocols are in use?
What happens if you put //WIN95 ComputerName into a browser?

Kay,
Valid questions.
Yes I have one folder shared on the Win95 computer. That is the one I
am trying to access.
Protocols in use are TCP/IP and NetBeui.
When I put \\Win95 into the browser on an NT server I get the
"<WIN95 ComputerName> IS NOT ACCESSIBLE. THE NETWORK PATH WAS NOT
Any thoughts? I'd appreciate them.

[snipped stuff]

The domain name is not the workgroup. Double-Click on 'Client for
Microsoft...' and put the domain name there. It seems to me that you may be
logging in to the computer but not the domain.

Kay,
I'll try that and get back to you. I am seeing errors in the Event
Viewer reference the Win95 machine trying to become the browser. I
need to check into that as well.

Thanks.
