You already lose by using gcc instead of ccc. I seem to remember I
benchmarked OpenSSL on ccc vs. gcc when I first got the Alpha XL266
and the Compaq compilers and the difference was substantial. Can't
remember the exact numbers, though.
The point of the comparison was supposed to be that megahertz is not
everything. I find it fascinating that a six year old Alpha running
at 1/6 the clock rate of a modern PC can hold a candle to the PC and
actually even beat it in some tests.
