SSH Keys for Password less authentication - Issues : needs help

Post by ssmynen » Sat, 01 Nov 2003 07:16:26

Folks:

I have a peculiar situation. I have 2 Linux boxes which have Open SSH
installed on them.
I have generated key pairs on both boxes and exchanged the publick
keys between them.

After logging into say machine A I can ssh into machine B with no
problem (no prompt for password)
However if I login to machine B and ssh into machine A I get prompted
for password.

I am at a loss for explaining this behaviour. Can you point me in the
right direction please.

SSH is openssh-2.9.9p2-62 and the Linux boxes are actually Linux hosts
on VM/zSeries mainframe setup. The flavor of Linux is SuSe Linux.

Thx much for your help.
- Myneni.

These should have been updated a couple of years ago now. Seriously, make
sure to update to *at least* 3.1p1 with all the security patches.

Then check what happens when you run "ssh -v", and examine your
"sshd_config" settings on both boxes.
