[ace-users] [tao-users] Getting ACE+TAO into Fedora

Hi Doug,

as
hasten

This is good news. ACE+TAO+CIAO being part of the Fedora (and eventually
Red Hat) distribution will be great. Out of curiosity, what are the
outstanding issues that prevent ACE+TAO+CIAO from being incorporated
into the Fedora (and other common open-source Linux) distribution?

Thanks,
Abdul

Hi Abdul,

Right!

In a nutshell, the original wording of the ACE+TAO+CIAO license was
overly verbose, redundant, and unclear - due largely to the fact that
I'm not a lawyer (nor do I play one on TV ;-)). The latest version of
the license has excised the verbosity/redundancy and is also (hopefully)
more clear. The substance of the license itself hasn't changed, i.e.,
it is still a "BSD-inspired" open-source license that doesn't restrict
use of the software.

Thanks,

Doug
