1. [Uniface-L] Migration Uniface v8 -> v9

2. [Uniface-L] Migration Uniface v8 -> v9

Hi John

It is easy and do have its pitfalls :-)

Migration of the repository can be done by: export -> (re)create
tables -> import.
After import you will ask for migration and this take some time
Please check if all field definition ("syntax" and "layout" in
UXFIELD ) are right!
UnifAce do have a bug (or is it a feature :-) ) in the migration
tool.
In some circumstance the tool break the inheritance of the
attributes as it replace the NULL pointer by a "default" value.
Check can be do by comparing e.g(!) UXFIELD.SYNTAYMOD in
repository before and after migration

Migration of the productive database:
As UnifAce change the export format and the internal represantation in
C* fields to XML, one have to take special care with C* field.
Tables without C* can be access by UF9 without any migration.
Tables with C* (and any other interface like this) should be exported
and the reimported like the repository.

You have to adjust INI and ASN file and possibly the license
information.

BTW:
With UF8 it was possible to export/import data by IDF.EXE with a
runtime-license
In UF9 you need the extra parameter /rma in front of /cpy to do the
same job.
