MailSession object not sending from default email client.

MailSession object not sending from default email client.

Post by Kwan Thean » Tue, 06 Dec 2005 19:52:50

Hi,
My machine is currently installed with Windows98 and have 2 email
clients
i) Outlook Express (Default Client)
ii)MS Outlook 2000

- I wrote a small program to send emails to my selected recipients.
- Used MailSession Object to create the mailSession and send using the

mailsession.mailSend() method
- The first time my program send the email, it uses my default client
(Outlook Express) to
send the email to my recipients
- But when I send subsequent emails, it uses MS Outlook 2000 to send my
emails
- My program is written in PB 6.5.1

My Questions:
i) Does mailSession connects to the default mail client, ?
ii) if NO, what is the mechanism that dictates which client to connect
to ?
iii) Is there any workaround for this one ?

Thanks
Kwan

Hi,

you can use only MAPI compliant mail Programs, so Outlook and not Outlook
Express. Define a profile under Outlook like "myprofile" and use it with PB.
All the e-mail will be sent under that profile.

MailSession object not sending from default email client.

Hi,
Thanks for the info ...
I am quite a newbie in this sense ...

So can i assume that:
i) using MailSession object, Outlook Express will behave inconsistently
?

Basically I do not have problem using MailSession to send emails but
more of using
the default mail client to send it instead of a 'compliant' one.

If what my assumption is correct, I think I might need to document this
behavior down.
PS: This problem only happens in a few machines (Not All) which is
being installed with
Win98.

Thanks Again ...
:)
