importing .py into pythonactor

I've only discovered Ptolemy II in the last 2 weeks and I'm very impressed -
this system is of very high quality and has such wide-ranging uses that I'd
like to explore much further. My main interest is in CT simulation for
process control design and testing, maybe even code generation (but my
targets are mostly PLCs).

I'm trying to exercise the pythonactor to see how useful the python
scripting is (I already use python for other stuff). However, to be useful
(to me) it needs to be able to import existing .py files, not just rely on
what you can fit directly into the script editor. Having now played around
with jython a tiny bit, it would seem that this should all be possible, but
I can't get it to work. A couple of questions for those that are familiar
with these bits of Ptolemy:
- can I import .py files so that I can use my existing python classes?
- where do I put these .py files so that import can find them?
- i.e. what is the sys.path of the jython in Ptolemy?

Thanks
