Event handler re-entrancy - in general and on wxMac

Does anyone know if event handlers, like mouse event handlers,
supposed to be re-entrant?

if so, what is the recommended mutual exclusion method to use?

why should you have reentrancy - because you are calling yield ? which would
be asking for disaster... when I had to deal with that kind of problems I
once used statics as guards

I saw the problem in the de *** , on a carbon app on os/x -

I put a guard around it, and the guard asserted. I will note that I
had called "logdebug" from the mouse handler, which may have called
yield someplace.
