Audio preamp to USB

I've been converting phonograph records to CDs by going from my stereo
preamplifier to a microphone input on a G3 Platinum. I'd like to be able to
do this on a laptop which requires a USB port for audio input. Is there a
device to permit me to do this?

There are a lot of USB audio devices. What you should get will depend
on the quality you need and how much money you're prepared to spend.
Prices will range from around $30 to thousands.

Many people here seem to like the Griffin iMic.

If you're looking for really high quality sound, you may want to locate
a music store (one that sells instuments, not CDs) and see what they
have. A lot of the music stores in my area are also Mac dealers and
can sell you all manner of pro and semi-pro equipment in addition to
what you can find in computer stores.

Yeah...or the other way; you could call some high-end
Mac store and ask them. Like, these guys (in NYC):
