Hi all...i buy a used Octane 2 workstation with Irix 6.5.27 cdroms but i
haven't a cd player.
Can I use in remote installation mode the dvdplayer of my Powermac with
Tiger?
The command "xinv" show me my hard disk as scsi(0)disk(1) and i think that
there isn't any partition....
Someone can halp me?...Sorry but in don't know unix language...

You should read some of the documentation from techpubs, it explains
everything very detailed. But there are some other resources out there
you may find them with google or follow some of the links above

Assuming that the Irix install CD's are not in efs format - my eMac
certainly can't read Irix install CD's (just tried it now with Irix
6.5.13). Not sure if you could rlogin from an sgi and read the cd's
across the network, could be worth a try - after all, it's not the Mac
that needs to understand the data.

Couldn't you borrow an external scsi cd drive from somewhere? :-)

Even if he can't mount them with the gui, wouldn't it be possible to
force them to mount some other way and effectively bypass OS X via some
remote login?
