Adaptec/other PCI SCSI cards in Sun Ultra 5, 10, ...

Post by Tim Woo » Fri, 30 Jan 2004 10:37:07

Anyone know if a Sun Ultra 5/10/etc. running Solaris can use an Adaptec PCI
SCSI card (spec. AHA-2940 series)? Sun lists support for the cards for
Solaris/x86, but no mention for Solaris.
Thanks,

Hello Tim,

no, recent versions of Solaris SPARC don't not support these cards. There
have been special versions that contained OpenFirmware.

These modells have an -OF appended to their modell name.

AHA-2940UW-OF, AHA-3940UW-OF single-ended SCSI
AHA-2944UW-OF, AHA-3944UW-OF differential SCSI (=HVD)

Support for these cards was dropped (by Adaptec, Sun never supplied drivers
for these cards) after Solaris 2.6 SPARC.
